Hydrogeology and Water Well drilling Department
In the year 2000, SABA started groundwater exploration and water well drilling services as part of its main activities. It all started with one DTH / Rotary drilling machine with drilling capacity of up to 700m. The growing demand of potable water for urban centers, rural population, industrial and agricultural use in Ethiopia, has encouraged SABA Engineering PLC to build up its capacity in the sector of groundwater exploration and development.
Towards this objective, SABA Engineering has gradually increased the number of drilling machines, highly qualified professionals and gradually strengthened all support facilities required for efficient drilling operation. Today SABA Engineering has four DTH / rotary drilling rigs with complete tools and accessories, qualified professionals, which include: geophysicists, water engineers, drillers and support technical personnel.
At present the total number of drilling and technical support staff is over 45. The depth of the wells drilled ranges from 40m to 400m and the diameter ranges from 216mm to 457mm.
